I drove down Ahazua Street, Raanana yesterday and smiled the entire way to see the streets swarming with fairies and angels, Harry Potters, clowns, bumblebees, robots, dragons and more.
Purim is one of my favourite times of the year both because of the balmy Spring weather, but also because I love the fact that the entire country enters into the spirit of the occasion with such enthusiasm and for 24 hours it's like living on a giant movie set.
This much anticipated festival brings out the kid in all of us and so it seems only appropriate that this week's recipe reflects this.
Make this more-ish snack with your kids or grandchildren during the upcoming Purim break....or just make it for yourself.
You'll be so very glad you did!
PURIM POPCORN CLUSTERS

1/3 cup finely chopped glace cherries
1/2 cup peanuts
1 cup shredded coconut
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup caramel syrup

1 tablespoon vanilla
1 tablespoon water
1: Pour the popcorn, cherries, peanuts and coconut in a large bowl and mix till combined.
2: Place the sugar, butter, syrup, vanilla and water in a medium pot and stir over low heat till the sugar is dissolved and the butter melted.
3: Increase to a medium heat and cook for 7 minutes then remove from heat and immediately pour over the popcorn mixture.
4: Stir with a wooden spoon till evenly coated and combined and allow to cool before serving.
COOK'S NOTES: Glace cherries are the red or green sweet cherries used for baking cookies and may be left out or replaced with M & M's if desired.
